Illuminating Engineering Society 2021 Annual Conference

IES ( Illuminating Engineering Society ), founded in 1906, is the well-known technical and educational jurisdiction on illumination. On 10th January, 1906, at the Hotel Astor, New York City the meeting was convoked “to complete the formation of a society devoted to the Science and Art of Illumination.” The report of the Committee on Organization was read and adopted without change.

2021 IES Annual Conference, originally scheduled for August 5-7 in New Orleans, will not take place in-person, and instead will be hosted in a virtual setting.

The IES is an accredited Standards Development Organization (SDO) under American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved procedures. It correlates research, investigations, and discussions to guide lighting experts and laypersons via research-and consensus based lighting recommendations.

It is dedicated to improving the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. For over one hundred years the Society has been a forum for the exchange of ideas and communicating information on all aspects of good lighting practice to its members, to the lighting community, and to consumers through a variety of programs, publications, and services.
